Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management

Founded in 1949, Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management (ZIA for short) is a public institute located in Zhengzhou , the capital city of Henan province, which boasts beautiful sceneries, pleasant climate and convenient transportation. The institute, which mainly generates advanced management personnel, used to be affiliated to Aeronautical Industry Company of China , and is supervised jointly by the central government and Henan provincial government.

The institute is composed of 13 departments, namely Accounting Department, Business Administration Department, Economy and Trade Department, Information Science Department, Industrial Engineering Department, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Department, Foreign Languages Department, Law department, Construction Engineering Management Department, Computer Science and Application Department, Basic Courses Department, Social Science Department and Physical Education Department. It also has some affiliated setups: Correspondence Education Institute, Research and Education Center for Advanced Personnel of Aeronautical Industry, Soft Science Research Center, Research Institute on CAD/CAM, Quality Engineering Research Institute, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering Research Institute, Business Administration Research Institute, Applied Economy Research Institute and an attached factory. Now the institute has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students from the whole country, and is entitled to accept overseas students.

With professors and associate professors being its backbone, the institute is staffed with an experienced, committed and academically-able faculty, including some foreign experts and teachers. In recent years the institute has obtained 64 awards at or above the provincial or ministerial level for its research achievements, and has undertaken 10 projects supported by national natural science funds, 6 projects supported by national social science funds and over 70 research projects at the provincial or ministerial level supported by aeronautical funds and other funds. To enhance the international academic exchange and study foreign advanced managerial technology, the institute always invites experts and scholars home and abroad to give lectures and to carry on academic exchanges, and sends young and middle-aged teachers to such countries as the United States, Japan, France, Germany, England, South Korea, Australia and Canada to engage in advanced studies.

The institute publishes a variety of academic journals and periodicals, such as Journal of Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management, Management Engineers, Aeronautical Accounting, Aeronautical Plan and Statistics, Aeronautical labor, Higher Education Study, Overseas Quality Information and Aeronautical Production Management. ZIANET has been built and connected to the INTERNET.

In order to train enterprising students specializing in modern economy management theories and skills, the institute has set up its cyber-net, language lab system, closed-circuit television system, multimedia classrooms, interactive network CAI classrooms, basic courses and specialized courses labs, library, playground and factory for practice. The students also have access to such facilities as ground track field, basketball and volleyball courts, the skating rink, table-tennis and billiards centers. All these efforts and facilities are geared at meeting the various needs of teaching and research. What`s more, some enterprises have established a variety of specialized scholarships with a total sum of over 2,000,000 RMB.

After years` development, ZIA has grown into a management institute majoring in industrial management and featuring a combination of management and engineering technology. It has also become a training base for the personnel engaging in national economic construction and aeronautical industry management.

By far the institute has generated for the country over 30,000 management and technological personnel at advanced and intermediate level.
