Henan Vocational-Technical Teachers' College (HVTTC) is one of the major colleges for training teachers. Built in 1949,originally it belonged to the Biology Department of Yan An Natural Science College. HVTTC has ever been renamed as Ping Yuan Agricultural School , Ping Yuan Agricultural College and Bai Quan Agricultural College until today's Henan Vocational-Technical Teachers' College named in February of 1987. HVTTC won the qualification as a major base for training vocational teachers across China in 1999 , and got the qualification as a training center for high school teachers across the nation.

Now HVTTC has two campuses, one in Xin Xiang and the other in Bai Quan, which covers a floor space of 360 ， 000 square meters . In HVTTC there are 7 sub-colleges, 10 departments and 4 teaching institutes with 34 4-year majors and 15 3-year majors, they are crop genetics and breeding plantation, basic husbandry, agricultural entomology ， food processing and storage engineering, fruit growing and vocational technology education. In HVTTC the majors cover engineering, agriculture, arts, science, management, economy and education. And there is a private college and a vocational school attached to it.

There are more than 16000 students, of whom 10415 students are college students, 3500 students are open students, and more than 2000 students are from the vocational school. HVTTC has trained almost 40000 students for the society.

In addition, there are 11 research institutes and research center on vocational, a technical research center and an institute for the determination of vocational abilities 。 There are 48 laboratories, which are wheat breeding, molecular biology laboratory, cotton breeding, biological technology laboratory, cell engineering and analysis testing. And there are 60 bases for the students' practice. The total equipment for teaching is worth 580 million RMB. HVTTC has the modern library with 1.22 million books of all subjects, 3600 kinds of magazines. Henan Vocational-Technical College Journal is published to the public.

There are 980 teaching staff, of whom 584 professional teachers with 38 professors and 197 associate professors and 22 of them have got the doctor's degree and 165 have the master's degree.15 teachers have been awarded the advanced experts either by the national government or the provincial government. HVTTC has been making achievements in academic research and development with such a long period of development. Since 1987,more than 400 scientific researches have been made and more than 100 national and provincial academic prizes have been won. The wheat breed “ Bai Nong 3211” by professor Huang Guangzheng has won the second prize by the national government, which is one of the major 136 prizes since 1949.

Recently, HVTTC has participated in about 40 international research meetings and more than 400 national meetings. It has invited 58 well-known experts across the world or the nation to give lectures. And I has developed the relationship with 20 universities from Australia , Spain , America , Brain and Canada .

With the experience of developing education, especially, since 1987, HVTTC has done excellently in education goal designing, teaching method improving, teaching practice, and reform scientific research and so on. All in all, there 300 researches on education reform, of which 39from the government, 147 from the local government. HVTTC has been centered on teaching, and has developed a goal to train qualified teachers with good academy and specialized skills which has been broadcast by Guangming Daily, Renmin Daily and China Daily.
