The Brief Introduction of Luoyang Technology College

Luoyang Technology College situated in Luoyang , the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, is a higher engineering college. Since its foundation in 1956, the aim of this college is to develop practical senior well-trained reserve technicians and engineers and also senior qualified reserve accountants, economic experts and international business experts. The students are enrolled and employed all over the country.

The college has two campuses(North and South) of a total area of 357 mu and its construction area is over 220,000M2 . The property value amounts to 24.15 million Yuan (RMB).

More than 30,000 collegians, night school students and correspondence course students have graduated from it since founded. It has also trained nearly 10,000 professionals for the local development and they all have become the backbones to modernize our country. At present, the College has eight departments of material engineering, machinery engineering, construction engineering, automation, computer, economic management, English and a center of humanities & social science, as well as an adult education school. It has 29 majors of inorganic nonmetallic material, environment protection engineering, construction decoration material engineering, building material machinery manufacture & maintenance, machinery and automation, manufacture & maintenance of automobile and tractor, machinery manufacture technology and equipment, digital control technology, industrial elutriation, production process automation technology, factory computer central control, elutriation technology, computer application and maintenance, computer net technology, civil construction engineering, urban construction, accounting, construction cost management, economic message processing & computer application, supply and marketing, trade economics, administration of industry and business, international trade, business English.

Currently the College has 1033 staff members, among which there are 10 professors, 87associate professors and senior engineers, and more than 260 secondary professional teachers. The education cycle is three years. It has now over 6,934 students, 135 of them will graduate with a university degree. There are also 769 adult education school students studying at the college.

The College positively deepens its education reforms and emphasizes on education quality. It owns modern computer network centers, cyber centers, audio & visual studios, together with well-equipped laboratories, language teaching classrooms and a 500,000-volumn-stored library. Each classroom equipped with a TV set and visual aids. It also establishes a teaching-effect-monitoring system and a management network. The Teaching -management Office was granted the title of the Excellent Teaching Management Department of National Common College both in 1993 and 1999. In 1997, the College was ratified by the State Education Ministry to be one of the national exemplary academies. In the long run practice of managing the College, it strives for the peculiarities, lays stress on application and cultivation. The College possesses 10 campus field-practice bases and 11 field-practice bases outside the college. The Inorganic Nonmetallic Materials and Material Machinery Manufacture & Maintenance are entitled Model Majors of National College by the State Education Ministry. The College has set up its Students Extra Curriculum Center , Psychology Health Center and Students Band. Various characteristics campus cultural activities are frequently held for the students to strengthen their abilities and cultivate their personality. For years the College has won great honor at the various provincial festivals, not only in science & technology but also in culture & art.

Since 1990' s, 49 science and technology projects of the college have passed through city-leveled appraisal or above, among which 25 have been awarded by various local or national organizations and 10 have been granted the patent; 16 teaching reform projects have passed through the province-leveled appraisals; More than 600 articles have been published, of which more than 20 have been awarded.

By now, the college have had cooperation with more than 100 enterprises within and out of the province, thus formed an educating-manufacturing cooperation web centered with Henan Building Materials enterprises. The college also put much emphasis on its international communication and exchange. Experts, professors and doctors from UN, Japan, Canada, America and Singapore, etc have given lectures here and many excellent teaching staff have been assigned to the former USSR, Yugoslavia, Canada, Germany, America, Italy, Australia, etc. College foreign affair office is in charge of the various foreign affairs, and try to perfect the related regulations and conditions to promote communications and cooperations with other countries, and expand more channels to invite more foreign experts to improve the English education for our college.

The college-affiliated enterprise-Luoyang Building Material Machinery Factory, is a nation-assigned Glass Manufacturing mechanic and Glass Fabric Mechanic enterprise, whose products have nationwide markets in more than 28 provinces and cities and have been exported to Indonesia, India, Iran, etc. With its annual turnover of over RMB 40 millions, it has been strongly backing the College up.
